Overview

Hair Mineral Analysis Level 2 measures 17 essential minerals and 17 toxic metals from a hair sample collected at home. This expanded panel covers more than double the elements in Level 1, providing a more detailed nutritional and toxicological picture for complex health situations.

Beyond the core minerals in Level 1, this test adds trace elements like iodine (thyroid function), lithium (mood regulation), molybdenum (detoxification enzymes) and cobalt (B12 metabolism). The expanded toxic metal panel includes rarer metals like uranium, thallium and platinum.

Symptoms

Suited to people with complex or treatment-resistant health issues, those investigating unusual toxic exposures, workers in industries with heavy metal contact, or anyone wanting the most thorough mineral and metal assessment available.

Questions

  • Level 2 tests 17 minerals and 17 metals compared to Level 1's 8 of each.
  • Beyond Level 1, it adds boron, cobalt, germanium, iodine, lithium, molybdenum, strontium, vanadium and tungsten.
  • Beyond Level 1, it adds barium, beryllium, bismuth, palladium, platinum, antimony, thallium, uranium and zirconium.
  • Choose Level 2 for complex or treatment-resistant health issues, suspected unusual exposures, or when Level 1 results do not fully explain symptoms.
  • The expanded panel reveals more mineral interactions and ratios.
  • Level 1 suits most screening purposes. Level 2 is most valuable when investigating complex cases.

How to prepare

Collect a hair sample from the back of your head near the nape of the neck. Cut hair as close to the scalp as possible. Collect approximately 1 gram from multiple areas for a representative sample. Avoid chemically treated hair when possible, or wait 6 to 8 weeks after treatment.

After the test

Discuss results with a healthcare provider experienced in mineral assessment or environmental medicine. They can recommend targeted interventions, investigate exposure sources for elevated toxic metals, and plan follow-up testing.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.

Understanding results

Results show levels of all 34 elements compared to reference ranges. The expanded panel reveals mineral interactions and ratios that the Level 1 test cannot assess. Your healthcare provider can use these results to guide targeted nutritional support, investigate unusual exposures, or refine treatment approaches.

Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.
