Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.

Overview

Your genes act like thousands of tiny switches that determine how your body handles everything from the food you eat to the stress you face - essentially creating your individual operating system that influences your energy levels, mood, athletic performance, and overall health.

The Comprehensive Genetic Health Test is an advanced DNA analysis covering over 100 gene variants across multiple biological systems. This test reveals how your genes influence key pathways including nutrient metabolism, detoxification, methylation, hormone balance, immune defense, inflammation, DNA repair, and cardiovascular health.

Results provide detailed, gene-level insight to help you understand how your body works — and how your nutrition, lifestyle, and environment interact with your genetic makeup.

The test covers an extensive 92 genes and 113 SNPs across the following categories related to genetic variations:

- Digestion
- Energy
- Hormones
- Stress & cognitive performance
- Inflammation and its connection to overall well-being
- Athletic performance
- DNA protection & repair
- Detoxification

It reveals whether you're genetically wired to thrive on certain foods or struggle with others, how efficiently your cellular powerhouses produce energy, how your body manages stress and inflammation, what types of exercise suit your genetic makeup, and how well your natural detox systems function.

When results show genetic variants that might create challenges - like slower toxin processing or heightened inflammation responses - you'll understand precisely what targeted nutrition, lifestyle changes, or supplements can help optimise your health based on your unique genetic profile, transforming guesswork into personalised, science-backed wellness strategies.

Questions

  • This test focuses on health-related genetic variants that affect how your body functions, rather than ancestry. It provides actionable health insights for personalized wellness strategies.
  • This test is a buccal (cheek) swab used for DNA analysis. No blood draw is required.
  • No. Because this is a genetic test, your results are determined by your DNA and are not influenced by vitamins, supplements, or medications.
  • Your report highlights genetic tendencies that may influence methylation efficiency. Supplement and nutrition plans are best developed with your health practitioner, considering your broader health context.
  • Some genetic variants affect drug metabolism, but medication changes should only be made with healthcare provider guidance. The test provides information to discuss with your doctor.
  • Results are typically available within 2–3 weeks after the laboratory receives your sample.
  • Recommendations are based on peer-reviewed research linking genetic variants to health outcomes. However, genetics is one factor among many affecting health, and recommendations should complement comprehensive healthcare.
  • This test identifies genetic predispositions and optimization opportunities but doesn't diagnose diseases. It's designed for health optimization rather than medical diagnosis.
  • Your genetics don't change, so retesting isn't necessary. However, interpretation may evolve as research advances, and periodic report updates may be available.
  • Yes, the comprehensive report is designed to be shared with healthcare providers to support personalized medicine approaches and informed health decisions.

How to prepare

No special preparation is required. For 30 minutes before sample collection, avoid eating, drinking, smoking, or chewing gum. Collect buccal cells using the provided kit according to instructions for your gene test. No medications need to be discontinued. Store the sample properly and ship promptly for optimal DNA quality.

After the test

You’ll receive a comprehensive 100+ page report with insights on each SNP tested and its possible implications for your health.

The report provides practical information about genetic patterns that may influence your nutrient requirements, detoxification capacity, or other key physiological processes.

Results are typically available within approximately two weeks from when the lab receives your sample.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.

Understanding results

Your report outlines genetic strengths, vulnerabilities, and nutrient interactions across eight key systems:

Nutrient Metabolism & Digestion – genes affecting fat, carbohydrate, and micronutrient absorption

Methylation – variants such as MTHFR and MTRR influencing detox and neurotransmitter function

Hormone Support – genes like CYP1B1 and ESR2 impacting estrogen and testosterone metabolism

Mental Health & Cognitive Performance – genes regulating serotonin, dopamine, and BDNF activity

Detoxification – pathways such as GSTP1, GSTM1, CYP1A2, and NAT2 influencing toxin clearance

Immune Function & Inflammation – genetic resilience against oxidative and environmental stress

DNA Protection & Repair – markers of cellular repair, antioxidant defense, and cancer susceptibility

Cardiovascular Health & Exercise – ACE1, AGTR1, and TMPRSS2 variations that affect blood pressure and endurance

Each result includes detailed information about the SNP variants analysed, with clear summaries and recommendations to help you interpret their potential relevance to your health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most collection centres accept walk-ins. Some may require a booking - check details when you click on your chosen location.

If your test needs fasting, we’ll include that in your instructions after you order. Fasting usually means no food for 8–12 hours, but water is fine.

Just your pathology referral form (we email it to you)

Of course. Just maybe don’t bring the friend who faints at the sight of blood.

They’re the highly trained professionals who take your blood sample - with a steady hand and a sharp needle. They love blood, but don’t worry… they’re not vampires. Just legends who make blood tests quick, clean, and (almost) painless.

Some of our tests include Urine, Stool, Saliva and more. Each test will have a clear description on what sample you will need to give and instructions on how.
