Vitamin E (Alpha-Tocopherol) At Home Test Kit

$74.00 AUD

Noticing dry skin, frequent illness or fatigue and wondering whether your vitamin E levels could be a factor?

Measures alpha-tocopherol, the most active form of vitamin E, from a finger-prick blood spot sample collected at home. Vitamin E is the primary fat-soluble antioxidant protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage. Deficiency is more likely in people with low-fat diets or fat malabsorption conditions.

Overview

Alpha-tocopherol is the form of vitamin E your body uses most actively. It sits in cell membranes and acts as a shield against oxidative damage. This test measures your circulating alpha-tocopherol level from a dried blood spot sample.

Vitamin E supports immune function, skin integrity and cellular repair. Low levels have been associated with muscle weakness, frequent infections, dry or irritated skin, fatigue and slower recovery.

Symptoms

This test measures alpha-tocopherol to assess your vitamin E status and antioxidant capacity. It may be relevant if you experience weakened immunity, dry or irritated skin, muscle weakness, fatigue, poor wound healing or increased oxidative stress.

Questions

  • It measures alpha-tocopherol, the most biologically active form of vitamin E, from a dried blood spot sample collected at home.
  • Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects cell membranes. Low levels have been linked to immune dysfunction, skin issues and muscle weakness.
  • Yes. Vitamin E levels reflect your dietary intake of healthy fats and fat absorption efficiency.
  • No fasting is required.
  • Every 6 to 12 months, or more frequently if you are actively addressing a deficiency.

How to prepare

1. Prepare Your Kit
Wash your hands with warm water and dry them thoroughly.

2. Collect Your Sample
Use the provided lancet to perform a quick finger prick. Allow one or more drops of blood to fall onto the designated circles on the dried blood spot card. Ensure the circles are fully saturated.

3. Let It Dry
Allow your blood spot sample to dry completely at room temperature before packaging.

4. Pack and Return
Once dry, place the card and all components back into the return envelope provided. Seal and mail it using the pre-paid return label.

After the test

Share your results with a qualified practitioner who can assess them alongside your diet, symptoms and health history.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.

Understanding results

Your results show your alpha-tocopherol level. Levels within the reference range suggest adequate antioxidant protection. Low levels may reflect insufficient dietary intake, poor fat absorption or increased oxidative demand.

Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.
