How to prepare
1. Prepare Your Kit
Wash your hands with warm water and dry them thoroughly. Lay out the kit contents on a clean surface: dried blood collection card, lancet, alcohol pad, gauze pad, bandage and return envelope. Warming your hands and shaking them gently can help increase blood flow.
2. Collect Your Sample
Use the provided lancet to perform a quick finger prick. Allow one or more drops of blood to fall onto the designated circles on the dried blood spot card. Make sure the circles are fully saturated. Avoid touching the card with your fingers.
3. Let It Dry
Allow your blood spot sample to dry completely at room temperature before packaging. This usually takes a few minutes. Do not cover or seal the card until it is dry.
4. Pack and Return
Once dry, place the card and all components back into the return envelope provided. Seal and mail it using the pre-paid return label.
After the test
Once your results are ready, review them and discuss the findings with a qualified healthcare provider. They can help interpret what your ratios mean in the context of your diet, symptoms and health goals. Retesting every 3 to 4 months can help track whether dietary or supplement changes are reflected in your markers.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
Your report includes your Omega-3 Index, Omega-6:3 ratio and AA:EPA ratio, each shown alongside reference ranges. A balanced ratio suggests your fatty acid intake is supporting anti-inflammatory pathways. A high Omega-6:3 or AA:EPA ratio may suggest that pro-inflammatory fatty acids are more dominant. Discuss your results with a healthcare provider to understand what they may mean for your individual situation.
