Dealing with persistent fatigue, slow recovery or brain fog and want to know how your body is handling oxidative stress?
Measures reduced glutathione (GSH) and oxidised glutathione (GSSG) from a finger-prick blood spot. The GSH:GSSG ratio reflects how well your body is managing oxidative stress. Relevant for people investigating persistent fatigue, slow recovery, or high environmental exposures.

Overview
Glutathione is the most abundant antioxidant produced inside your cells. It exists in two forms: reduced (GSH), which is the active form, and oxidised (GSSG), which is the spent form. The balance between these two forms tells you how well your body is coping with oxidative stress at the cellular level.
This test measures both GSH and GSSG from a dried blood spot sample. Low GSH or a high GSSG-to-GSH ratio may reflect increased oxidative burden from stress, environmental exposures, intense exercise, illness or certain medications. Symptoms that may be associated with depleted glutathione include persistent fatigue, slow recovery, frequent illness, brain fog and increased sensitivity to chemicals or pollutants. Your results give your practitioner specific data to guide targeted supplementation or lifestyle adjustments.
Symptoms
This test assesses your antioxidant capacity and oxidative stress balance by measuring both forms of glutathione. It may be relevant if you experience chronic fatigue, frequent illness, slow recovery, brain fog, headaches or sensitivity to environmental chemicals. It is particularly useful for people under sustained stress, those with occupational or environmental toxin exposure, or anyone investigating unexplained low energy.
Questions
It measures reduced glutathione (GSH) and oxidised glutathione (GSSG) from a dried blood spot. The ratio between these two forms reflects your oxidative stress balance.
Glutathione is involved in detoxification, immune defence and cellular repair. It is the most abundant antioxidant produced inside your cells.
Yes. NAC, liposomal glutathione and other antioxidant supplements can influence your levels. Discuss timing with your practitioner.
Fasting is not required for this test.
Every 3 to 6 months is reasonable if you are actively adjusting supplementation or addressing oxidative stress with your practitioner.

How to prepare
1. Prepare Your Kit
Wash your hands with warm water and dry them thoroughly. Lay out your kit contents on a clean surface. Warming your hands and shaking them gently can help increase blood flow for easier collection.
2. Collect Your Sample
Use the provided lancet to perform a quick finger prick. Allow one or more drops of blood to fall onto the designated circles on the dried blood spot card. Ensure the circles are fully saturated.
3. Let It Dry
Allow your blood spot sample to dry completely at room temperature before packaging.
4. Pack and Return
Once dry, place the card and all components back into the return envelope provided. Seal and mail it using the pre-paid return label.
After the test
Share your results with a qualified practitioner who can assess your glutathione status alongside your symptoms and lifestyle factors. They can advise on whether targeted supplementation, dietary changes or further investigation may be appropriate.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
Your results show your reduced glutathione (GSH), oxidised glutathione (GSSG) and the ratio between them. Higher GSH and a balanced GSH:GSSG ratio suggest strong antioxidant capacity. Low GSH or a skewed ratio may reflect elevated oxidative stress, toxin exposure or nutrient depletion. Your practitioner can interpret these results in the context of your lifestyle, symptoms and health history.

Simple health checks in my control
I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.

"I'm a little biased as I work here! However, I love that The Bloody Good Test tracks my health over time. After turning 40, I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to drop dead from something basic I should have known about earlier. Measuring all my core biomarkers each year gives me peace of mind my health is on the right track"
