Pancreatic Elastase 1 Stool Test Kit

$99.00 AUD

Experiencing bloating, fatty stools, weight loss, or nutrient deficiencies that could be linked to how well your pancreas produces digestive enzymes?

The Pancreatic Elastase Stool Test measures a digestive enzyme in stool to assess how well your pancreas produces enzymes. Low levels may suggest reduced function affecting nutrient absorption.

Overview

Your pancreas produces enzymes that break down food in the small intestine. Pancreatic elastase is one of these enzymes, and because it stays stable as it moves through your digestive system, measuring it in stool gives a reliable picture of how well your pancreas is functioning.

Symptoms

Suited to people with chronic digestive symptoms, unexplained nutrient deficiencies, diabetes with digestive complaints, a history of pancreatitis, or suspected reduced pancreatic enzyme production.

Questions

  • An enzyme produced by your pancreas that remains stable through digestion, so stool levels give a reliable picture of pancreatic enzyme output.
  • Blood tests like lipase pick up acute inflammation. Stool elastase measures ongoing enzyme production.
  • Chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, coeliac disease, and age-related changes.
  • No. The test measures your body's own elastase, not supplemental enzymes.
  • Low elastase levels may suggest reduced pancreatic enzyme output.
  • Bloating, gas, fatty or floating stools, weight loss, and nutrient deficiencies.

How to prepare

No special dietary restrictions required. Collect a fresh stool sample using the provided collection kit. Avoid laxatives or enemas for 48 hours before collection. If you take pancreatic enzyme supplements, continue as normal.

After the test

If your levels are low, your healthcare provider may refer you to a gastroenterologist for further evaluation.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.

Understanding results

Normal levels (above 200 ug/g stool) suggest adequate pancreatic enzyme production. Levels between 100 and 200 ug/g may suggest mild reduction. Levels below 100 ug/g may indicate more significant reduction.

Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.
