How to prepare
Fasting for 8-12 hours required for fasting glucose test (water only). For random glucose, no fasting needed but note time since last meal. Avoid stress and illness when possible as these can affect results. Continue usual medications unless specifically advised otherwise by your healthcare provider.
After the test
Discuss elevated results with your healthcare provider immediately. Prediabetes requires lifestyle intervention including diet modification, exercise, and weight management. Diabetes diagnosis requires comprehensive management including medication, blood sugar monitoring, and regular medical care. Follow-up testing includes HbA1c for long-term glucose control assessment and monitoring for diabetes complications.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
Fasting glucose: Normal <5.6 mmol/L (<100 mg/dL); Prediabetes 5.6-6.9 mmol/L (100-125 mg/dL); Diabetes ≥7.0 mmol/L (≥126 mg/dL). Random glucose: Diabetes ≥11.1 mmol/L (≥200 mg/dL) with symptoms. Single abnormal result should be confirmed with repeat testing. Results interpreted based on fasting status, symptoms, and clinical context.
