Vitamin D Plus (D2, D3 & Vitamin D Metabolite Ratio) At Home Test Kit

$74.00 AUD

Supplementing with vitamin D but your levels still aren't where they should be?

Measures D2, D3 and the Vitamin D Metabolite Ratio (VMR) from a finger-prick blood spot sample. The VMR reveals how efficiently the body processes vitamin D through the CYP24A1 enzyme pathway, going beyond total level to explain why some people remain deficient despite supplementation.

Overview

This test measures 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 and D3 alongside the Vitamin D Metabolite Ratio (VMR). The VMR includes 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, a metabolite produced when the enzyme CYP24A1 breaks down vitamin D. Measuring this ratio shows whether your body is converting and clearing vitamin D efficiently.

Standard testing tells you how much vitamin D is circulating. The VMR tells you what your body is doing with it. If your levels remain low despite regular supplementation, the breakdown pathway may be the missing piece.

Symptoms

This test goes beyond standard vitamin D measurement to assess how efficiently your body metabolises vitamin D. It may be relevant if you experience persistent deficiency despite supplementation, ongoing fatigue, bone or joint pain, low immunity, mood changes or hormonal concerns.

Questions

  • Standard tests measure total vitamin D. This test also measures D2, D3 separately and the Vitamin D Metabolite Ratio (VMR), which shows how your body processes and breaks down vitamin D.
  • The VMR reflects how efficiently your body converts and clears vitamin D through the CYP24A1 enzyme pathway.
  • People who have had persistently low vitamin D despite supplementation, those with symptoms that may relate to poor vitamin D metabolism, or anyone wanting more detailed information.
  • No fasting is required.
  • Every 3 to 6 months is reasonable if you are actively adjusting your vitamin D intake.

How to prepare

1. Prepare Your Kit
Wash your hands with warm water and dry them thoroughly.

2. Collect Your Sample
Use the provided lancet to perform a quick finger prick. Allow one or more drops of blood to fall onto the designated circles on the dried blood spot card. Ensure the circles are fully saturated.

3. Let It Dry
Allow your blood spot sample to dry completely at room temperature before packaging.

4. Pack and Return
Once dry, place the card and all components back into the return envelope provided. Seal and mail it using the pre-paid return label.

After the test

Review your results and share them with a qualified practitioner who can interpret the findings in the context of your symptoms, diet and health history.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.

Understanding results

Your results include D2, D3 and the Vitamin D Metabolite Ratio (VMR). Together, these markers show both your circulating vitamin D levels and how efficiently your body is processing vitamin D.

Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.
