Simple health checks in my control
I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.

"I'm a little biased as I work here! However, I love that The Bloody Good Test tracks my health over time. After turning 40, I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to drop dead from something basic I should have known about earlier. Measuring all my core biomarkers each year gives me peace of mind my health is on the right track"

Overview
This test measures your levels of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 and D3—the two combined markers that represent your total vitamin D status. Vitamin D2 is obtained from plant sources and fortified foods, while D3 is produced in the body through sunlight exposure or consumed through animal-based foods. Monitoring these levels helps you understand whether your current lifestyle, supplementation, and diet are providing enough vitamin D to support bone health, immunity, mood, and overall vitality.
Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common, especially in individuals with limited sun exposure, darker skin tones, indoor lifestyles, or dietary restrictions. Low vitamin D can contribute to fatigue, low immunity, weakened bones, poor mood, and inflammation. By assessing both forms of vitamin D, this test provides a comprehensive understanding of your status so you can take targeted steps to restore optimal levels and support full-body wellbeing.
Symptoms
This test helps identify vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency, which may contribute to fatigue, low mood, weakened immunity, bone discomfort, muscle weakness, poor recovery, and frequent illness. It’s essential for individuals who spend limited time outdoors, live in low-sunlight regions, have darker skin pigmentation, or want to optimise immune and bone health.

How to prepare
1. Prepare Your Kit
Wash your hands with warm water and dry them thoroughly. Lay out your kit’s contents — dried blood collection card, lancet, alcohol pad, gauze pad, bandage, and return envelope — on a clean surface. Warming your hands and shaking them gently can help increase blood flow for easier collection.
2. Collect Your Sample
Use the provided lancet to perform a quick finger prick. Allow one or more drops of blood to fall onto the designated circles on the dried blood spot card. Ensure the circles are fully saturated, but avoid touching the card with your fingers.
3. Let It Dry
Allow your blood spot sample to dry completely at room temperature before packaging. This usually takes a few minutes — do not cover or seal the card until dry.
4. Pack and Return
Once dry, place the card and all components back into the return envelope provided. Seal and mail it using the pre-paid return label. Your sample will be analysed at our specialised lab.
5. Receive Your Results
Lab analysis typically takes one week.
After the test
Once your results are ready, you can review them and discuss the findings with a qualified practitioner to interpret what they mean for your health and create an appropriate plan if needed.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
Your report will show your total 25-Hydroxyvitamin D level, the best marker of vitamin D status. Levels below the optimal range may contribute to low immunity, low mood, and weak bones. If your results are low, sunlight exposure, dietary changes, or supplements may help raise your levels.
