Want to determine your Hepatitis A immunity status, assess past infection, or confirm vaccination effectiveness before travel or occupational exposure?
Assess your Hepatitis A immunity and infection status with our comprehensive serology test. This important analysis detects antibodies to Hepatitis A virus, providing crucial insights into past infection, current immunity, and vaccination effectiveness.

Think of Hepatitis A serology testing as checking your body's security records to see if you've ever encountered this liver virus and whether you're currently protected. Hepatitis A is like an unwelcome visitor that causes your liver to become inflamed and irritated - it spreads easily through contaminated food, water, or close contact with infected people, which is why it's common in areas with poor sanitation. The test looks for two different types of antibodies that act like your immune system's scouts: IgM antibodies show up when you're currently fighting the infection or have recently battled it, while IgG antibodies are your body's long-term security guards that stick around after you've recovered or been vaccinated.
Unlike its cousins Hepatitis B and C, Hepatitis A doesn't stick around to cause chronic problems, but it can make you feel pretty miserable for weeks or even months with symptoms like extreme fatigue, nausea, stomach pain, and that telltale yellowing of your skin and eyes called jaundice. This test is especially valuable if you're planning to travel internationally, work in healthcare or food service, or fall into other higher-risk groups, because knowing your status helps you make smart decisions about vaccination and protecting both yourself and others - particularly important since you're most contagious before you even feel sick.

Understanding results
Results show IgM and IgG antibody levels. IgM positive indicates acute/recent infection. IgG positive indicates immunity from past infection or vaccination. Both negative indicates susceptibility and need for vaccination. Results guide vaccination and prevention strategies.
After the test
If susceptible (both antibodies negative), receive Hepatitis A vaccination. If acutely infected (IgM positive), supportive care and isolation precautions. If immune (IgG positive only), no vaccination needed. Follow public health guidelines for prevention and contact tracing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Immunity from natural infection or vaccination is lifelong in most people. Antibody levels may decline over time, but immune memory cells provide continued protection against reinfection.
No, Hepatitis A infection or successful vaccination provides lifelong immunity. Apparent reinfection usually indicates infection with a different type of hepatitis virus.
Test 2-7 weeks after exposure for IgM antibodies. If exposed recently, post-exposure vaccination or immunoglobulin may be recommended within 2 weeks of exposure.
No, IgG positive results indicate immunity from past infection or vaccination. Additional vaccination is not necessary and provides no additional benefit.
The vaccine is 95-100% effective at preventing infection when given as a two-dose series. Protection begins 2-4 weeks after the first dose.
IgM antibodies appear first during acute infection and indicate recent infection. IgG antibodies develop later and persist lifelong, indicating immunity and protection against future infection.
