Overview

The Female Cycle Hormone Profile maps oestradiol and progesterone across your full menstrual cycle through 11 saliva samples collected on specific cycle days, with testosterone measured once on day 11. This captures hormonal patterns that a single blood draw on one day cannot show.

Oestradiol rises during the first half of your cycle and triggers ovulation. Progesterone should surge after ovulation, supporting the luteal phase and reducing PMS symptoms. Testosterone influences libido and energy levels throughout. When these hormones fall outside expected patterns, whether from stress, PCOS, perimenopause or other factors, symptoms like irregular periods, severe PMS or fertility difficulties often follow.

This test suits women with cycle-related symptoms that have not responded to standard treatment, those investigating fertility challenges, or anyone wanting to understand the hormonal shifts across their monthly cycle.

Questions

  • Hormones fluctuate across your cycle. Single-point testing can miss problems like inadequate progesterone rise, shortened luteal phase, or anovulation that only appear when you track the full pattern.
  • Samples are collected on specific cycle days: 3, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 23, and 28.
  • Luteal phase defect occurs when progesterone does not rise adequately after ovulation or drops too quickly. It can cause short cycles, spotting before periods, and difficulty maintaining early pregnancy.
  • Hormonal contraceptives suppress natural hormone production, so results will not reflect your natural cycle. This test is designed for women not using hormonal birth control.
  • Adjust collection days based on your typical cycle length. Your practitioner can help modify the schedule.
  • Wait at least 3 complete cycles after stopping hormonal contraception for your natural patterns to establish.

How to prepare

Collect saliva samples on cycle days 3, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 23 and 28 at the same time each day, preferably morning. Avoid eating, drinking or brushing teeth for 30 minutes before each collection. Track your cycle carefully to ensure accurate timing. Kit includes full instructions.

After the test

Discuss your results with a healthcare provider experienced in reproductive hormones. They can recommend targeted interventions based on your cycle patterns.
