A healthy vaginal microbiome is dominated by Lactobacillus bacteria, which produce lactic acid to maintain an acidic pH and keep harmful organisms in check. When this balance shifts, symptoms like unusual discharge, odour, itching or recurrent infections can follow.

This test uses PCR technology to identify and quantify the organisms present in your vaginal ecosystem. It covers beneficial bacteria, pathogenic organisms associated with bacterial vaginosis, Candida yeast species, common STIs and your vaginal pH level.

Suitable for women experiencing vaginal symptoms such as unusual discharge, odour, itching or recurrent infections. Also relevant if you have had multiple courses of antibiotics affecting vaginal health, are planning for pregnancy, or want a baseline assessment.

How to prepare

Avoid douching, vaginal medications and sexual activity for 24 hours before collection. Do not collect during menstruation. Follow the kit instructions carefully for proper swab technique.

After the test

Discuss your results with your healthcare provider, who can recommend targeted treatment based on the specific organisms identified. If STI pathogens are detected, your healthcare provider will advise on appropriate treatment and whether partner notification is needed.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
