Transglutaminase IgA Stool Test Kit

$98.50 AUD

Experiencing digestive symptoms that could be gluten-related, or want to screen for coeliac disease before making dietary changes?

Measures anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA antibodies in stool, a marker of gut-level immune response to gluten. Elevated levels may suggest coeliac disease or non-coeliac gluten sensitivity. At-home collection kit.

Overview

This stool test measures antibodies against tissue transglutaminase (tTG), an enzyme involved in the immune response to gluten, directly in your gut. Elevated levels may suggest coeliac disease or non-coeliac gluten sensitivity.

Stool testing can sometimes pick up gut-level gluten reactions earlier than blood tests. Stool tTG IgA is also useful for monitoring how well a gluten-free diet is working.

Symptoms

Useful for coeliac disease screening, investigating possible gluten sensitivity, or monitoring gluten-free diet compliance.

Questions

  • Stool tests measure local gut immune reactions directly, which may pick up gluten sensitivity earlier than blood tests.
  • Yes. Maintain a normal gluten-containing diet for at least 6 weeks before testing.
  • It is a useful screening tool, but a definitive diagnosis typically requires intestinal biopsy.
  • Silent coeliac disease is possible. A positive result warrants discussion with your healthcare provider.
  • Stool antibodies typically decrease within 3 to 6 months of strict gluten elimination.
  • Yes, and stool collection may be more practical than a blood draw for younger children.

How to prepare

Continue eating your normal gluten-containing diet for accurate results. If you have already removed gluten, you may need to reintroduce it for at least 6 weeks before testing. Collect your sample using the provided sterile container.

After the test

If your result is positive, discuss next steps with your healthcare provider. They may recommend a blood-based coeliac panel, genetic testing (HLA-DQ2/DQ8), or referral to a gastroenterologist. Follow-up stool testing in 6 to 12 months can help monitor diet effectiveness.

Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.

Understanding results

A negative result suggests no significant gluten immune reaction was found. A positive result suggests an immune response to gluten in the gut. Your healthcare provider can interpret results alongside your symptoms and may recommend follow-up testing.

Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.
