Overview

Standard testosterone tests use immunoassay methods which can sometimes cross-react with other hormones. LCMS first separates testosterone from everything else in your blood, then identifies and measures it based on its molecular structure. This produces results with accuracy typically within 2 to 3 percent.

Understanding results

Reference ranges are the same as for standard testosterone testing but with greater confidence in accuracy. If your LCMS result differs significantly from a previous immunoassay result, the LCMS measurement is generally considered more reliable.

If your test needs fasting, we’ll include that in your instructions after you order. Fasting usually means no food for 8–12 hours, but water is fine.
