How to prepare
Fasting for 8-12 hours recommended for most accurate results, particularly for bilirubin and protein measurements. Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours before testing. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications and supplements as many can affect liver enzymes. Stay hydrated but avoid excessive water intake immediately before testing.
After the test
Discuss any abnormal results with your healthcare provider immediately. Further testing may include hepatitis screening, liver ultrasound, or additional blood tests to identify specific causes. Treatment depends on underlying conditions and may include lifestyle changes, medication adjustments, or specific therapies. Regular monitoring may be required for chronic liver conditions.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
Normal ranges: ALT 10-40 U/L, AST 10-40 U/L, ALP 30-120 U/L, GGT <50 U/L (men), <35 U/L (women), Bilirubin 5-20 μmol/L, Albumin 35-50 g/L. Elevated enzymes may indicate liver cell damage, bile duct problems, or other liver conditions. Low albumin might suggest liver dysfunction, malnutrition, or protein loss. Results are interpreted together with symptoms and medical history.
