How to prepare
No special preparation required. Inform healthcare provider of all copper supplements, multivitamins, and medications that might affect copper levels or metabolism.
After the test
Share your results with your GP or a practitioner familiar with mineral metabolism. If copper is outside range, your practitioner may request additional tests such as serum zinc, iron studies, caeruloplasmin, or liver function markers.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
Results are reported in micromoles per litre (umol/L). Low serum copper can be associated with anaemia, neurological problems, and poor wound healing. High serum copper can occur in inflammatory states, pregnancy, with oestrogen-containing medications, and in Wilson's disease. Your practitioner will review alongside zinc, iron studies, and other relevant markers.
