Anti-Deamidated Gliadin Peptide Immunoglobulin G (DGP IgG) Blood Test

$48.00 AUD

Experiencing bloating, fatigue or digestive symptoms after eating gluten, and want to check whether coeliac disease could be behind it?

Measures IgG antibodies against deamidated gliadin peptides for coeliac disease screening. Remains accurate when IgA deficiency makes the standard tTG-IgA test unreliable. Usually ordered alongside tTG-IgA as part of a coeliac serology panel.

Overview

DGP IgG testing detects antibodies to deamidated gliadin peptides, gluten fragments that trigger immune responses in coeliac disease. This blood test screens for coeliac disease, particularly when standard IgA-based testing may be unreliable.

IgA deficiency occurs more frequently in people with coeliac disease. When someone lacks adequate IgA, the standard tTG-IgA screening test produces false negatives. DGP IgG uses the IgG antibody class, remaining accurate regardless of IgA status, with collection available across Australia.

Most commonly ordered alongside tTG-IgA as part of coeliac serology, this test strengthens screening accuracy.

Symptoms

Recommended for people with digestive symptoms suggesting coeliac disease, those with IgA deficiency who need an alternative screening pathway, or as part of a broader coeliac serology panel alongside tTG-IgA.

Questions

  • Antibodies to deamidated gliadin peptides—gluten fragments modified during digestion. These antibodies indicate immune reaction to gluten.
  • Both screen for coeliac disease. DGP IgG uses a different antibody class (IgG) and target, making it valuable when IgA testing is unreliable.
  • IgA deficiency is more common in coeliac disease. If someone lacks IgA, tTG-IgA testing will be falsely negative. DGP IgG remains accurate.
  • Yes. Gluten-free diets reduce antibody levels, potentially causing false negatives. Continue normal gluten intake for at least 6 weeks before testing.
  • Positive results warrant referral to gastroenterology for confirmation, typically with endoscopy and intestinal biopsy before starting gluten-free diet.
  • Antibody testing screens for coeliac disease. Definitive diagnosis usually requires intestinal biopsy showing characteristic villous atrophy.

Simple health checks in my control

I didn't know that private blood tests were an option. Tried this platform as the packages suited what I wanted for a good price. Easy to follow instructions, and super quick results. Platform provides more information than my gp's ever have on the tests and what the results meant. Would like more clinics to be able to test at (specifically Capital Pathology) but there is a decent network. Will continue to use.

Of course. Just maybe don’t bring the friend who faints at the sight of blood.

They’re the highly trained professionals who take your blood sample - with a steady hand and a sharp needle. They love blood, but don’t worry… they’re not vampires. Just legends who make blood tests quick, clean, and (almost) painless.

Some of our tests include Urine, Stool, Saliva and more. Each test will have a clear description on what sample you will need to give and instructions on how.
