How to prepare
No fasting is required. Blood is collected at a pathology centre via a standard blood draw. Avoid taking antihistamines or corticosteroids for the period recommended by your healthcare provider before testing, as these medications can suppress eosinophil activity and affect results.
After the test
Discuss your results with your healthcare provider, who can assess whether your current treatment is adequately controlling eosinophilic inflammation. If ECP is elevated, your provider may recommend adjusting your treatment plan, further investigation or referral to a specialist.
Your test results will be available in your private dashboard. If there are any urgent issues, we'll let you know so you can follow up with your health professional.
Understanding results
ECP is typically measured in micrograms per litre. Elevated levels suggest increased eosinophil activation, which may indicate active allergic inflammation, poorly controlled asthma or an eosinophilic disorder. Results within the reference range suggest that eosinophil activity is not significantly elevated at the time of testing.
