Concerned about heart disease risk, experiencing metabolic issues, or have cholesterol concerns and want assessment of triglyceride levels for cardiovascular health?
The Triglycerides Blood Test measures the level of fats (triglycerides) in your blood. High levels can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and pancreatitis, and are often linked to diet, weight, and diabetes. Healthy levels support good heart and metabolic health.

The Triglycerides test measures the level of fats floating in your bloodstream that act like your body's backup fuel tank. Just as your car stores extra gas for longer trips, your body stores triglycerides to provide energy between meals when your blood sugar runs low. These fats come from the food you eat and are also made by your liver, circulating through your blood until your body needs them for energy.
When triglyceride levels climb too high, they become like thick sludge in your cardiovascular system, increasing your risk of heart disease, stroke, and other serious health problems. Elevated levels often signal that your body isn't processing fats properly, which can point to conditions like diabetes, metabolic syndrome, or simply indicate that your diet and lifestyle need some adjustments. This simple blood test gives you and your doctor valuable insight into your heart health and helps determine if you need dietary changes, exercise, or medications to keep your cardiovascular system running smoothly.

How to prepare
Fasting required (8-12 hours). Only water permitted during fasting period. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before testing. Inform healthcare provider of all medications affecting lipids.
Understanding results
Results show triglyceride levels compared to normal ranges. Elevated levels increase cardiovascular risk and may indicate metabolic problems requiring lifestyle changes or treatment.
After the test
Address high triglycerides through dietary modifications, regular exercise, weight management, alcohol reduction, and medications if needed. Work with cardiologists or lipid specialists as needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Triglycerides are fats in blood that provide energy storage and transport; elevated levels increase cardiovascular disease risk and may indicate metabolic problems.
High triglycerides increase risk of heart disease, stroke, and pancreatitis, and may indicate metabolic syndrome, diabetes, or poor diet and lifestyle habits.
Causes include poor diet (high sugar/refined carbs), obesity, diabetes, alcohol excess, sedentary lifestyle, certain medications, and genetic factors.
Through dietary changes (reduce sugar/refined carbs), regular exercise, weight loss, alcohol moderation, omega-3 fatty acids, and medications if needed.
