Biological age and chronological age are two different numbers. Your chronological age is fixed at birth, but your biological age reflects how your cells are actually ageing right now. It's measured from epigenetic markers, which are small chemical tags that sit on top of your DNA and change throughout life based on diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and environmental exposures. These tags don't alter your genes. They're a record of how your body has been responding to how you've lived.

This test uses validated epigenetic clock algorithms to compare your methylation pattern against large population datasets. The result tells you whether your body appears to be ageing faster or slower than your years. Research links accelerated biological ageing with increased risk of age-related conditions, while decelerated ageing is associated with better long-term health outcomes. How to prepare

No fasting is required for the blood draw. However, avoid intense exercise, alcohol, and significant sleep disruption in the 24 hours before collection, as acute stress and inflammation can influence methylation patterns. Let your practitioner know about any medications and supplements you are taking.

After the test

Discuss your result with your GP or a preventive health practitioner. A biological age that is significantly higher than your chronological age may prompt a broader health review covering lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity, sleep, and stress management. Retesting after a sustained period of change can show whether your interventions are having a measurable effect.

How do I know if I need to fast?

If your test needs fasting, we’ll include that in your instructions after you order. Fasting usually means no food for 8–12 hours, but water is fine.

What do I need to bring?

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course. Just maybe don’t bring the friend who faints at the sight of blood.

What’s a phlebotomist?

They’re the highly trained professionals who take your blood sample - with a steady hand and a sharp needle. They love blood, but don’t worry… they’re not vampires. Just legends who make blood tests quick, clean, and (almost) painless.
